That's a "temporary" problem though as the fleet slowly transitions to an all-MAX fleet with consistent hard product. No point spending money on upgrading planes that will be out of service in a few years anyway.
I suspect this is also why HA and AS will maintain separate brands. No need to go re-outfit aircraft like the VX merger.
