You’ll notice the cabin was dark, despite being a day flight. The windows were locked out by the crew to discourage passengers from pressing the call bell (i.e. trying to send them to sleep). I sympathise with the crew, however when booking a day flight for a reason it is a bit annoying to have compulsory darkness.
When I complained about this once on AF I was told it was night time at my destination!
