No, if it does beep, they'll just ask you step over to the counter and just manually run your passport. It takes a few seconds, not a big deal.

Good question. I'm assuming we all have our pics all over the place, but the initial I suspect would be from passports? Same in HKG, the facial recognition thing just seems to work pretty flawlessly too. So, they're getting it somewhere and it seems pretty darn accurate.
PS - By the way, since you're flying from US into CDG, I'm awfully curious to see if you'll have the biometric passport lane open for you.
