Op, I think your initial issue had nothing to do with conformance and that particular tree is the wrong one to bark at. I think it sounds like the pro-active rebooking gone wrong which sadly happens to those of us connecting (primarily if at some points your inbound flight is scheduled with a big delay which would make the connection impossible but later the delay decreases). It is very annoying when it happens and some other airlines handle this better but at a cost to them (ie saving a seat for you on the next flight without cancelling your initial one till the last minute).

i would argue compensation should apply here as you missed your flight not due to the weather but to ba proactively but mistakenly cancelling your booking on your initial flight. I’d keep a log of the exact time you initially scanned at domestic transit and beeped red.
