Confusing as you don’t mention the carrier(s) for which segments.
if AA CXLD the flight(s) they should be re routing you on their metal on a PE award and honor the MCE seat on their metal. Now if I requested a BA flights (s) , if it is over the water where WT+ exists, BA is NOT under any requirement to open up award space for you — AA can’t force them.
Since u left a lot of flight info out, I would just suggest calling AA and tell them u want to be protected on AA metal that offers PE. — it would have to be a connection in the US.

I had a June Premium Economy Award for a June trip SEA_LHR. I saw on flyertalk that flight was cancelled so I checked on trip and saw I had new flights going and returning. Those flights both had a bit over an hour connecting times . The new flight to LHR showed seat in PE. I called to get flights with more connecting times. After an hour on phone between agent and supervisor I had new seat in PE. It showed on request and was told should get confirmation email in 20 minutes. Days later still on request several more calls and then my seats gone. I talked with a supervisor yesterday and was told they had to wait for award availability for PE, which might not show up until June or never. On my return I had paid for MCE but now can not buy new return seats until everything ticketed. Advice
