We're both Canadian. We wound up crossing at YYZ last week, but couldn't use our Nexus cards as our son doesn't have one yet. Not sure what security checks they need to do for a 4 year old ,but his application has been pending for almost 1 year.
regarding the kid, they actually check them against any type of travel list to make sure one parent isn’t taking the other without the other parent knowing, so it can take longer than adults
