And from the last new Ritz Carlton I stayed in NYC I was deeply disappointed compared to the original Ritz in Montreal or the Ritz previously in Downtown New York Wall Street area which once was excellent.
The brand is going flashy and stingy/small fitness centers and in NYC 3rd party restaurants with poor breakfast quality
yet that may be enough for some just to be in a Ritz property.
Marriott seems to be trying to move away from suite upgrades every passing year and ever increasing room prices
Though Melbourne is a bargain compared to most other locations based on dollar strength alone
As an Ambassador they should roll out the Red carpet for you but typically in most Melbourne hotels
I've have been treated brilliantly.
YMMV
This is just a bad property with stingy management. The other new Ritz in Australia, the RC Perth, had no issue proactively upgrading me to a suite and giving free breakfast. Every other Marriott in Melbourne couldn't have been nicer, including the W with their WOW Suite upgrade.
