You’re mostly right but I think all of us have held a TSA “I don’t have to take off my shoes” card at decent sized airports and/or EWR, maybe old LGA too? That’s the free-for-all I refer to but maybe I’m thinking of the bad parts of EWR, BUF, OKC, etc.
Indeed. Too many unfortunately. At least one of the old LGA Terminal B concourses had the card. Sometimes with a separate ID check. Sometimes without. Sometimes it felt like there was a roulette wheel they used to spin to determine the procedures for a given date/time.
But yes, I think that is the distinct minority among medium and larger airports.
