The "bigger problem" here is that the typical business traveler wants a one stop shop for travel, which includes frequency and destinations. If AS no longer flies to AAA, BBB or CCC, you don't even look to see what the schedule is to JFK, because you're already dedicated to another carrier.
100%. Some who continue to post in this thread about the lack of a FC lie flat most likely don't even fly other carriers lie flat F or J or if they do, I''ll wager real money it's extremely rare if paid with their dough. AS FC product is good enough that they keep making money, unlike other carriers their size. I've flown it paid, about 5 times this year and it's fine, in fact rather good, if the price is right. AS is in my rotation, but they're not my first choice on many routes because, as you stated above I'm dedicated, in this case to OW, and often there are better schedules from other OW carriers. That's pretty much the way airlines work for passengers, you find the one that meets your requirements for the travel that you need when you want to fly, rather it be price, schedule, reliability or amenities. AS typically checks most of the boxes, at least enough that they have been a reliable choice for many, myself included, as evidence by their finacials. Like I've stated there are at least two airlines that can only dream about the operation and profitability that AS achieves, part of them making money is how AS manages schedules based on profit or loss. If they mess with their schedule, then I slide over to another OW carrier that meets what I need for a particular flight/day. If you don't like the schedule there are always other carrier options, AND you get to choose! What a country!
