I really don’t interpret the GOH changes as being motivated by wanting to “crack down” on GOH usage. It seems to me that they want to do two things:

- Make the program feel less all-or-nothing; that is, you can still experience Globalist benefits for one stay before you hit 60 nights, since 60 nights is a pretty high bar. Other programs have stronger mid-tier status benefits.
- Encourage existing Globalists to market the loyalty program to their friends by making it *much* simpler to apply GOH benefits to a friend’s stay. Presumably, the motivation here is to induce your friends into considering becoming loyal to Hyatt once they experience Globalist treatment.

The only way this change works is if they cap the number of GOH usages, since otherwise you can just apply it to literally every single stay that any non-Globalist books. It’s a very positive change, in my opinion. I do hope it’s paired with better training about what GOH is though; the one time I used the GOH benefit, the recipient did not actually get free breakfast or parking (let alone a suite upgrade), and I had to call to get those charges reversed on their behalf.
