Last Sunday, the Bonvoy App reported for most of the day that I'd been upgraded to a Chambers Suite at the St Pancras Renaissance Hotel. About an hour before I arrived at the hotel, the Bonvoy App updated to say I'd been downgraded to a Superior King Bedroom. I'd reserved a Premier King Bedroom. The first room I was assigned was a tiny room with a view of a brick wall. When I complained, I was reallocated to a different room that had a view of the street. I appreciate that the upgrade that had been allocated to me was probably sold before my arrival, to a paying guest, and that these things happen, but it made the room I was assigned all the more disappointing, especially as I was tired after travelling all day.
I'd much rather that the Bonvoy App only updated when I'd been assigned a room number. I didn't enjoy the roller-coaster of emotions when I was first upgraded and then downgraded. I would rather not have known that I could have been upgraded.
