Back in the late fall of 1973, during the Arab oil embargo following the Yom Kippur War, I flew from the old Nairobi airport to Heathrow. I forget which airline. With the shortage of jet fuel, they couldn't load enough to make the trip, so we made an unscheduled refueling stop in Tehran. We were not only forbidden to leave the plane, we were required to keep the window shades down and photography was a big no-no. I peeked out of the window as we touched down and saw us taxi by dozens of Phantom jets lined up wingtip to wingtip.
