I have never lost one but I did forget them once. Luckily I had the card ID numbers written down (hope you did) and the hotel accepted the numbers after verifying that it was still valid.
I had the details, I was just concerned about the hotel rejecting it if it didn't come with some barcode or such. I shouldn't have worried, now that I've seen what the eGift cards look like. I could have just used an old one and replaced the text...
