Firend of mine woked on 88th floor on South Tower. He usuall was there by 8:30AM. That day he got delayed, got out from underground at 9AM and sees burning North Tower and exactly that moment plane hits South Tower where his office is.
Needless to say that I am telling him 'happy birdthday' on that day every year...
A friend worked in one of the towers (I forget which) only 1 day a week, the other days she was in Brooklyn. She was there that day and had a standing meeting on a higher level floor (her office was on the 11th fl). She always took her coffee to the meeting. But that day, for whatever reason, she decided to be late to the meeting and enjoy her cup of coffee first. The plane hit while she was sipping her coffee. Everyone in the meeting died
. She had to hobble down 11 flights on crutches and then walk home to 77th and CPW - but she is alive.
I always enjoy my cup of coffee.
