Actual suites are stunning and well maintained. Private pools are all heated. Toiletries are Elemis brand. All pool decks lack umbrellas, with the exception of one (ours). Umbrellas are on order, but unclear arrival date. If you want shade by your pool, negotiate in advance of your arrival.
There is no gym on property. Longer term plans involve building one, but unclear timing. Kayaks and paddle boards are expected by mid-December. On-site pier makes for easy transfers to other islands or day trips. The roads in Bequia are not ideal, so land travel is a bit slow.
Our biggest issue with the property involves their Day Pass program. When a cruise ship is in town, you can see more day pass guests than in house guests. We were unable to get a lounger on the beach one day as everything was taking by cruisers. The restaurant is also not staffed to handle these surges. This contract goes through May 2024, and there is nothing they can do to get out of this obligation. The other days were very calm, but the one day influx was honestly unacceptable. Be warned of this risk.
The dining front is the other area they could improve. The seafood was barracuda heavy and not overly fresh. We wound up mostly dining off property as a result. Highly recommend Bequia Plantation House. Skip Bagatelle. The issue seems to be the menu selection and quality of food product. We caught a Grouper one day, and the chef cooked it for our dinner. Night and day better than everything else, so the chef does not appear to be the issue. Wait staff is solid, and thoughtful.
This is a very unique property and beautiful setting. The value is (currently) great, but there is room for improvement. Bequia isn’t the easiest to get to, but is a great stop for a Grenadines tour.
all suites have private pools how was the quality of the bungalows?
