I'll be on the 788 PHL-AMS in a couple of months and looking for advice on seats in J. While I'm hoping for the Super Diamond config, I want to be prepared for Concept D. I'd clearly pick 5A/L since it's a redeye and we'll be hoping to sleep, but my better half really does not like to split up. Seems that to be proximal to one another, the odd rows in the center are the only way to go.
The question is between 1D/H, 3D/H, or 5D/H. I've selected row 1 since the seats in the Concept D layout are not connected to any others, but am wondering if row 1 would actually be worse due to proximity to the galley. If we end up with the new layout, I'd much rather be in row 5. I've never flown the Zodiac layout on a redeye; only a daytime flight and I was in 5L so it was great.
If it were your choice, given a seeming 50-50 chance of either layout, would you go row 1 to ensure the seats don't rock, but guaranteed galley noise (on a short redeye no less), or row 3 or 5 to be further from the galley but chance it that you get a restless neighbor and Concept D?
