For Australia Etihad becomes an option, certainly now that the Quantas legs you alternatively would book don't give XP anymore soon. But who knows....would be so great to have Etihad as full member of Skyteam, that would change things a lot.

I don't see EY joining Skyteam. Why sign up to a forced collaboration with a raggle-taggle bunch of disparate airlines, when EY can (and has) chosen its desired partners? AFKL may have resisted for a long time, but they've finally given in. I don't really see that EY would gain anything further from joining Skyteam, rather than continuing to forge partnerships with the specific airlines - rather than alliances -they wish to court.
