BA eStore - Avios cancelled after 8 months!
Hi all,
Back in March I bought a 1-year travel insurance policy via MoneySuperMarket, using the BA eStore (or "Shopping through BA", as it's now called). At the time there was a special offer and my £113 purchase would give 2460 Avios - to be awarded once the policy expired next year. It tracked just fine, I received the policy documents and then I let it be. I've not travelled abroad since. The policy is still active (it ended up being with Holiday Extras).
This morning, out of the blue, I received an email saying the transaction has been cancelled, but none of the suggested reasons apply (I've not cancelled the policy, the last click was via the BA estore website, the purchase conditions were met and so on). I wouldn't care too much if it was just a handful, but 2460 is a big chunk to lose... and it's the principle of the thing! I've had dozens of other transactions in the past couple of years and all have tracked and come through just fine.
"MoneySuperMarket Travel Insurance has informed us that your purchase (Purchase ID 2....5) is not eligible to earn Avios and therefore the status of this purchase has been updated to cancelled. "
Annoyingly, you can't raise any queries with BA after 90 days, so I can't even file a ticket... and there are no email addresses to email a complaint.
I suspect MoneySuperMarket is trying to save some cash and have cancelled the Avios, knowing there's nothing I can do about it.
Does anyone have an idea how to get those Avios I feel I'm still owed? I'd be grateful for any suggestions. If nothing else, it means I'll never use MoneySuperMarket again!
