During Covid, when I invoked the 6 months extension they didn't want to extend the certificate and after AMB date changed the cert really didn't extend with it. However, they offered (in email) then that I could use the cert or if I couldn't to call in when it expired and they would deposit a new one with 6 months validity.

Now that was then, these days I thought to have seen occasional reports that one time extension of AMB also extended the cert, but I feel YMMV in this case.
