First off, how is it possible that a full 1/3 of the plane is on the UG waitlist?
There are a lot of frequent flyers on planes. Go check out a DCA or EWR flight – or even an ANC-SEA flight on a shift-change day. I've seen 100+.

This makes no sense, unless the number is just the order in which people entered the waitlist and not their actual priority level!
Thanks in advance!
The upgrade list shows upgrades to both Premium Class and First Class.
Premium Class upgrades work a little differently than First:
- The upgrade processor won't upgrade exit rows to Premium. I guess if you're in an exit row, it already has good leg room. Though if you actually want premium, you can select it.
- It will only upgrade into the same position of seat. Aisle -> Aisle, Window -> Window.
These parameters are good. I would be pretty upset to be upgraded from an Exit-aisle seat into a premium-middle.
