Gate agent tried to force gate check on bag that fits

I was flying from BUR on a CRJ700. I was in group 3. After scanning my boarding pass the gate agent looked at me and said “you stand in that line.” The line was obviously to gate check bags that wouldn’t fit in the overhead. I politely told him that I frequently fly this very same flight and my bag always fits. Before I could finish he cut me off and said “stand in the line.” I again asked the agent who was tagging bags if I could at least try to bring my bag on since I had taken the same flight three other times in the last couple of weeks and the bag had always fit. She seemed sympathetic and said she would have to ask her supervisor (the very same, quite rude agent, who had initially denied me). She also said it was “policy” at this station (although I regularly fly from the same station without issue). He said to her “ok let him on but, we’ll put a note in the reservation.” Of course, once I boarded, the bag fit. Ironically, after the groups behind me boarded three oversized backpacks had to be taken off the plane and checked because they didn’t fit.

I’m sure this isn’t the first time this has happened, but I’d like to contact someone at AA customer service to bring this up. I’m particularly irked by the rude behavior of the supervisor and vague threat of some action when I did nothing wrong except ask that I be allowed to try to stow my bag, which I knew from previous experience fit. As it turns out, there was also excess overhead space on the flight. Any suggestions on an email address to send a note?
