Hi FT! P2 and I are headed to ATH via LHR. Found a saver fare on AA 797-9 ORD-LHR. Two quick questions
1) Does it matter which row we sit in if we want sweetheart seats or at they all set up the same way,
2) any thoughts on pros/cons of the day or evening flight? My thought was day flight- land at LHR 10:10pm- get a hotel and take late flight next day to ATH and get a “free” one day trip to London?

On the 789 all the seats are the same (no mix of planes with forward/backward seats)
If you are okay with flying all day and getting a night in a hotel I'd do that.
Keep in mind there's a lot of construction going on on both the Liz/Hex and Piccadilly lines (you can check the schedule on TFL's site), and the city does pretty much close down for Christmas, so plan on taking a taxi if needed.
Arguably a redeye will be worse sleep, but I find it's easier to adjust timezones with the forced short night.
