My backpack/rucksack is a North Face one - but comes in at 20"x14"x7" (i.e. > BA specs) - never had a problem fitting it under the seat in front. I've never been challenged over it's size, so I suspect as long as i) it's not an extended expedition size backpack and ii) it fits under the seat in front, you should have a wide choice available.
