If you use the old version you can click the (?) to bring up examples. There should also be a thread in a different forum, maybe Travel Tools, that goes into the more advanced ways to use it. But, to answer your question for faring you use:
f bc=y|bc=b|bc=m
You can specify carrier in the routing line or the extension code line. So you could combine them like:
f bc=y|bc=b|bc=m;f KL.SFO+AMS.

That will only return fares booked in those codes on KL filed fares between SFO and AMS.
