So sorry this happened to you. I'm very glad that you're none the worse for the wear - everything else is just a thing that can be replaced.

A tip I can offer is to split your cards up.

Traveling alone:
I leave at least 2 CCs in the hotel safe along with an atm card and some cash.

Traveling with hubby:
We both remove at least 1 CC from our wallets and leave them behind. We leave non-joint account cards behind. For example, I might carry the Diners Club and MC and he'll have the Amex and Visa. Only one of us will have an ATM card (we only have 2 from different accounts). We also leave a card behind that neither of us are carryinng - like the Discover. We don't have that many cards, so we worked it out that there is at least one card that we both don't hold together for this reason.

In both instances if we are robbed we are not CC-less or money-less.
