I’ve no idea if things have changed but pre-Covid the norm was that bah would try and contact late payers and could arrange a grace period of up to 1 week.
Frankly, I’d have asked to speak to a supervisor in your case as it seems very harsh. I don’t know what you’ve accepted or not now or how it affects the next steps but I’d personally try calling again…
