I've also started carrying the phone numbers to use for reporting loss for the country I'll be in. I learned that the report goes to Visa itself, not the issuing bank.. And we couldn't find the numbers - they weren't in any phone book, the police didn't know them. However, they are easily available on the internet.

Now I type out and keep in my suitcase a list of card and document numbers.

I leave in a suitcase pocket an extra credit card and most cash. I carry a photo of my passport, one card, some cash.

I leave my driver's license at home. It is more hassle to replace than a passport.
