Really? Just looked at AA and a return trip for the dates I would be flying are running at ~336K miles out of LAX with ~600K miles from points on the East Coast? Am I missing something?
Those are on AA metal. If you find a flight on Japan Airlines it will be a fixed rate at 60k in business.
The tradeoff with miles is that they can require a little bit of legwork to redeem as availability fluctuates.
