Thanks to those who replied for the support with this issue. Going forward we will not plan on doing any business with Expedia. Amex is great. Platinum works well for us with cruises (on board credit), lounge access and points are good as long as they are done as a transfer to a frequent flyer program. There is no way I would use Amex travel again especially pay with points. Lesson learned. I would be hesitant to use the platinum benefits such as International travel program since it uses Expedia. I remember fondly the days when Amex travel was in house and very good. I am now an official travel rewards dinosaur.

Fortunately BA has cancelled our ticket so things will work out evenutally. Hopefully we will get a refund.
