Part of it is that I almost never care whether I get a suite or not. There are a few times when it's nice but most of my travel is solo so rooms are usually fine. I would rather get more points (which contributes to more free nights) than get an upgrade on a room that I already have. I've turned down a $50/night upgrade from a room to a premium suite; that should give an idea of your much I value it.
So interesting that you value Suite Upgrade certs at $0. For me, I value them quite highly. So much so, that I choose them at 70, 80, 90, & 100 nights over the 10k points offered as the other option. I have without a doubt gotten Suites that would not have been available at check-in (for example, I'm in one right now over Thanksgiving at a sold out hotel). The ability to lock in Suites months in advance of my stay is one of the best benefits of Hyatt imo (and is unique amongst all the chains). In fact, this unique benefit alongside resort fee waivers on paid stays make Hyatt the best chain for me (even though I am Lifetime Titanium with Marriott, Diamond with Hilton, and a Diamond Ambassador with IHG). These 2 benefits are unmatched in the industry. I have yet to let a suite upgrade expire. I use them liberally, applying them to 3 night stays and higher to ensure they do not go unused.

Anyway, the reason I asked my original question is because for the milestone awards at 70, 80, 90, & 100 nights I am choosing to forgo 10k points and I recall reading somewhere that some people reported getting their 10k points for expired suite night awards (although perhaps this only happened during covid). So I was trying to assess whether this is still a thing (or if it ever was). Choosing 4 add'l Suite Upgrade Awards is going to get me 8 in 2024... and that seems like a lot, so I was just wondering if I don't use 2 would I get points instead. It sounds like no... so I'll have to consider how many to choose from the 4 milestones I'll hit. I'm still leaning towards taking all 4 suite night awards.
