Bringing food and drink on Hong Kong Express flights

How strict is HKE in terms of bringing food and drink on to the flights? Their web page (https://www.hkexpress.com/en-hk/plan...od-and-drinks/) stated "No outside food and beverage can be consumed onboard the aircraft. Our ground staff may stop you from bringing such items onboard."

I don't plan on eating or drinking much, but I do want to bring some water (for sipping throughout the flight) and small snacks (only if I get really hungry for some reason). Would they search my carry-on when I board? And what would happen if I manage to get them onboard and do some inconspicuous eating/drinking during the flight?

Btw, do they at least serve water?
