While this is of course a positive move in general, it puts me in a bit of a pickle. I have Volare Premium status valid until Jan 2024 which I was planning to use on 3-4 upcoming AFKL bookings. As AFKL used to credit 0 to Volare, I would have been able to use all the Elite Plus benefits and then simply retrocredit to Flying Blue to get the XP.
Now, however, I have to either (i) put Volare as my FFP during check-in to get the Elite Plus benefits and try to change it after the lounge visit, but before boarding (which is super risky) or (ii) go with my Flying Blue number on the boarding pass, but then have to flash my Volare card in every step of the process while hoping that the overzealous lounge dragon doesn't change the FQTV field.
Isn't it funny how an airline can truly never make everyone happy on FT
