Quick Howto on NFT Minting and Trading

As some may not know: You can already trade cards!

It isn't super-simple and doesn't work OOTB. You can't do it solely through the Uptrip app itself. But it ain't rocket science, either. If you're somewhat technically adapt and capable of following HowTo's, you should get this to work.

What's required?

1. Set up a crypto wallet. I recommend to choosing MetaMask app and following this step-by-step guide on Uptrip's web site precisely. Note you will have to complete this guide and add some funds to your wallet. Moving Uptrip cards in NFT ("non-fungible token") form incurs some transaction costs (usually less than one cent per transaction). The minimum amount to purchase seems to be around EUR 10/USD 10. As an alternative, it may be possible to convert other cryptos to MATIC, the crypto needed here.

2. Connect your wallet with Uptrip. This one's quick-and-easy. Follow this guide on Uptrip's web site: https://support.uptrip.app/article/6...-crypto-wallet.

3. Minting your Uptrip cards can be done following this page. My suggestion: Go one card at a time. Also, occasionally, there seems to be a glitch that the very first transaction fails. If so, just re-try. Once again, I recommend AGAINST transferring more than one card in one go. Multi-card processing seems a bit buggy.

4. If you've successfully minted a card, you will see a little pink icon in its top-left corner on Uptrip. Tap on the card. You'll see the card flipping around in an animation. There's a link next to "Token-ID". Tap on it.

5. On the page you land (on Polygonscan), you see a Tokenid and a "Token Contract". Use the little symbol to the right of the token contract address to copy it. In the Metamask app, go to tab NFTs. Select Import NFTs and enter the address you just copied there. As the ID, use the Tokenid you just saw on Polygonscan. For me, the ID always was a 6-digit decimal number.

6. You now should be able to see the card in Metamask under NFTs/Uptrip cards. From there, you can send the card to someone else. You will need the receiver's public address on Polygon Mainnet. You can find your own public ID near the top of Metamask's main app page. It's labelled address and is a hexadecimal address (by convention, it starts with 0x).

7. Cards sent to such an address (of course, assing the receiver has also properly linked Uptrip) will go directly to the receiver's collection of cards in Uptrip.

Hence, it is possible to transfer and trade cards this way.

As a reminder, you need to have a little positive balance in your account to facilitate these transactions. The transaction fee is colloquially called "gas." For me, it cost a a cent each to mint a card/share a card/etc.

If you interested in this, feel free to post in this thread. I will attempt to answer any questions you might have on this.

I wonder if it's okay with moderation to talk about trading cards in this thread. I suppose it might be, as the cards have no monetary value. HT goes to a HowTo by a user Julien I found quoted in a FB group.
