The ideal hotel (arriving T3, departing T2) is the Hilton Garden Inn T2/3 (make sure you book the correct one, the 'Hilton Garden Inn Heathrow Airport' is the Hatton Cross one). It's in the car park of T2 and walkable to T3 easily.
As the previous poster said they don't change terminals on a day to day basis. Usually they change twice a year based on the seasons and a few flights may flip, but there's plenty of notice given.
During covid things sometimes changed at shorter notice but even then it wasn't done last minute.
If we ignore the covid years BUD has been pretty much T3 as long as I can remember hence it's popular among those who want to try out the lounges in T3.
