These flights can be sold at a huge premium. BA also flies the A350 mainly there, it is a very profitable aircraft (as is the 787 for example).
Some years ago I was told by a BA manager that the best marketing in Nigeria was to print the price of the ticket on the ticket wallet. (Paper ticket days)
