Despite being a lowly Gold (thanks, Amex), received an upgrade to the huge Balmoral Suite with 27th floor panoramic views over Hyde Park and the Winter Wonderland.

Apart from the room surprise, once you get past the 1960s architecture (which, to be fair, is now becoming retro-chic), this is a beautiful hotel in a fantastic location.
