I just noticed this on a recent BOS-ORD flight myself. With the BOS-STL nonstops back after the long hiatus 2010-2021 I haven't been through ORD as much. Coincidentally, both BOS-STL departures have Breakfast/Lunch and STL-BOS is Lunch/Lunch [op'd by Envoy E175] but still crazy AA serves a meal on a very similar duration route they only complete with WN versus ORD going against superior schedule with UA on new 737MAX and DL albeit more limited schedule but on a new A220/BCS1.
Are any ORD exception routes still in effect? Looks like ORD-DFW also doesn't offer a meal regardless of time of day.
The exception routes went away. I fly ORD-BOS pretty regularly and the latest ORD-BOS schedule most days has the last flight out is 3:30 pm. Putting aside connections, you need to leave downtown at what 1:30. I’ve been flying the A220 on the return because of this. Service is exactly the same as AA.
