KL1921 AMS-GDN Diversion Query
Hello FlyerTalkers,
I'm seeking advice following an unusual experience on flight KL1921 yesterday (21 November) from Amsterdam (AMS) to Gdansk (GDN) aboard a KLM Embraer E190 (PH-EZH). Roughly two-thirds into the flight, we had to return to AMS. The pilot mentioned "technical reasons" for the turnaround, but KLM later cited "operational reasons.". Later that evening, PH-EZH then flew KL1647 to Florence (FLR) and that flight was also diverted back to AMS!
Eventually, we were rebooked on another E190 (PH-EZZ) and reached GDN approximately 3 hours and 15 minutes behind the original schedule. During this ordeal, we weren't provided with any meals, and the replacement plane didn't have sandwich catering either.
I'm curious about two things:
1) Is there a way to find out the specific reasons behind the diversion of our original flight KL1921? (and curiously that of KL1647?)
2) Regarding EU Regulation 261 compensation, do both "technical" and "operational" reasons qualify for a claim?
I'd appreciate any insights or advice from the FlyerTalk community on this matter. Your experience and knowledge would be immensely helpful in understanding my situation better.
Thank you very much!
