I liked the Hyatt Regency Chicago - here are the pros, cons, and photos from my stay last night:
Pros:
- Upgraded at least a day in advance to a River View Suite Premium (Premium = renovated West Tower, I believe), which was a nice double-doored full suite with lovely views towards River North
- Furniture was comfortable
- Bed was comfortable - plush mattress, two of the pillows were nice and plush (the other two were quite large and firm)
- Shower pressure was strong-ish and pleasant
- TVs are very large
- Offered 4 PM late checkout proactively
- Regency Club had a friendly attendant and some good Swiss Miss hot chocolate (evening service had some soups, meatballs, and brownies that I didn’t try)
- Globalist breakfast is in the restaurant - I was told that it was only the buffet at check-in, but the buffet was closed this morning - lucky me, so I got to order some very nice a la carte pancakes with eggs and bacon - extensive menu more like a diner - service was friendly and efficient
Neutral:
- Bed covers could be thicker - still okay with heat on
Cons:
- Some of the bedside electrical outlets didn’t seem to work
Overall, I wouldn’t have an issue returning here.
