Very strange the change view showed diff amount then it actually cost. That’s not awesome , but worked out for me!
United has a continuous pricing pilot. Quite possible that initially the 4 were not available (but only 3) and in the end the system still allowed the price all 4 in the lower booking class.
I am seeing a lot of this recently.
