AC 107, YYZ - YVR today, 777, boarding from D24 which if you know it has space for maybe 20 people deep from the podium to the edge of the carpet.

They are boarding 400!! people onto this flight, so that means not only is there mass confusion about where the lanes are, but the whole concourse is chock full of people so you can't even really get to the Zone 1 line without getting really pushy, and people can't get to the gates further down past this one.

Some serious bad planning for sure!
It's not just D24, it's about YYZ T1 overall. The worst of the worst IMO is two flights boarding at the same time at those corner gates at the hammerhead. Consider yourself lucky if you don't line up for the wrong gate, or if you can distinguish a "line" from a cluster of moving people at all.

Most of my "pleasant" boarding experience at YYZ are at the regional flight gates below D24, and the odd empty YOW/YUL flights with less than 50 passengers.
