Could it be that you were bronze at the start of the year and the app was saying you need 2 qualifying flights to *requalify* for bronze for next year? That would make sense with my recollection of the user interface.
You need 4 in total for silver, but that won't show up until you have 300 points and two flights to get to the bronze threshold.
