Small follow-up now I’m checked out:
More annoyances around the late check-out. After confirming that I would definitely use a 4pm checkout at checkin the day before and telling housekeeping at 11am that I would be checking out at 4pm, I got a call from reception at 2pm to ask what time I would be checking out and then housekeeping knocked again at 3pm to ask my checkout time. Seriously, sort your .... out people
On checkout today interestingly I was told there was a £10 service fee which when I pushed I was told was discretionary (it’s rather illegal not volunteering that info up-front). Rather oddly, the fee didn’t appear on my invoice covering the first two nights (also paid on cash with no obvious difference I could tell). I assume some agents are removing it automatically, others not.
