If £16 is ok to pay, then you probably could get it cheaper with a black cab off the rank. For short trips the driver can return to the front queue so they should be happy to take you there and back. But otherwise I'm sure the receptionist at the hotel will be OK to charge you on arrival, and may let you have the return for free in the circumstances.
