I also generally avail a hotel car if traveling somewhere a little unknown, or if the drive from the airport will be a long one. I've had varying levels of VIP treatment using the hotel car service, even at the same hotel.
Generally expect that someone will meet me at the baggage claim exit, bring my luggage to the car, inform the hotel when we arrive, and escorted to the check in counter. Sometimes I receive in-room check in, sometimes I'm just directed to the check in desk. The most impressed I've been was with GH Beijing, whose representative met me right after exiting the aerobridge from the plane, walking me through customs and baggage claim. Not sure if I've ever received a room upgrade beyond Globalist expectations for taking the hotel car though.
I did take the hotel car for PH Bangkok, and it was more in line with the minimum expectations. No additional room upgrade to the suite I was already confirmed in, and I believe I was just pointed to the elevator on the ground floor.
