As you noted in your first post, equivalent one way j fares to NYC on AA, Delta, and B6 are priced $2000-$2500 lower for the date/time you’re considering. If you fly enough to be GS with UA, you likely fly at least some of the time with the other alliances as well… you’ve provided no details on your status with others. Rather than focusing solely on the remote possibility of a UA GS price match, perhaps you would be better served to inquire about what status match opportunities are available to you with the other airlines given your UA GS bona fides. This one flight would save you the $2000-2500 plus count toward whatever metric you might need to achieve/maintain high status elsewhere. Always nice not to be too reliant on a single source (in this case airline).
