One time I went under the knife while Bush was President and woke up to Hillary holding a Bible for Bill at the Capitol.

But on the travel front…. I had been at a General Managers meeting for my airline in south Florida and I took Amtrak home to Baltimore in a sleeper for something different (I’ve done all but two of the long distance trains). Of course our VP had to tell the whole group as we adjourned that “Safe flights… except for Jax, the airline employee taking the train.” That night in my bed my phone kept going nuts so I woke up to put on vibrate. Finally that was annoying me and I saw I got back to back calls from our BOS manager who was a close friend. I answered to ask what the heck was he blowing up my phone for at 3am. He asked if I was okay and if I needed help. I was confused. Well turns out the southbound Silver Service derailed in the Carolinas with fatalities. Many had seen news an Amtrak train between Florida and the Northeast had an accident and were checking on me. The company’s Director of Emergency Response called my girlfriend when I didn’t answer. The company’s operations center sent out a page to the manager group that it wasn’t my train. Though it was the same crew base as my train’s crew and my car attendant knew the Conductor who was killed very well. Our Conductor had pulled the whole crew together in the dining car to tell them.
