Hotel cars have their value, namely consistent experience and guaranteed car type. In the event of severe travel disruptions, they'll be much better than the average car service, which waits maybe 60 minutes at most.
Generally though I just go with Grab Luxe/Uber Black unless I know I am coming in way before regular check-in time. I find that arranging for hotel car in that instance will almost always yield me an (sometimes wildly, as in 5 or 6 am) early check-in.
