We spend several months per year on Big Island and enjoy adding a a week or so of pampering at the end of each trip by staying at either The Auberge or FS. So glad to have another option. Our recent visit to The Auberge was disappointing last month. The place was overrun with noisy kids and oblivious parents and though we thought the food at Canoe House seemed the same (and same menu…getting boring) the service throughout has slipped a bit. The girls in The Market are still stellar, though.
We did hear that Uncle Danny had been in ICU after a health emergency. He is a delight and legendary and we’re hoping the best for him.
Many thanks to Bocastephen and Weatherboy for so much insightful detail on Kona Village.
We are at the Auberge now. A long 12 day stay with friends and family. I find the resort service to be exceptional, friendly and familiar. The food is slightly elevated from our previous visits with the exception of the Canoe house as ERtraveler mentioned. They lost their head chef last year and the GM of both the resort and the Canoe House this year. I have eaten at the Canoe House 4 times now over the last 18 months and with the exception of the first time ( excellent food and service) it has never met that standard again.
