I am all for worker safety, not just for airlines workers, but for all professions.

However, I am confused about this United policy. It should not be airlines specific, and it should be industry specific.
Why other airlines have not implemented this policy. Shouldn't regulators, airlines association or flight attendant unions be involved?

I would think route specific or weather specific conditions could impact the FA's safety procedures. I think any rules should be principle based and allows for judgements based on experience and specifics of situation. Is it up to airlines to set safety rules or up to the industry regulators?

I scratch my head over this one.
